Blast from the Past

The summer between my freshman and sophomore years of college, I was living on Transy's campus for summer school classes. My roommate for the summer was more an acquaintance than close friend, so I didn't know everything she was up to. She kept blowing off phone calls from the nicest boy.  It got to the point that I felt really bad for the poor guy....

I lectured her one night. "That Tony guy has called a couple of times. He's super nice. Why haven't you called him?"

"Um, because he's a total baller," she replied. "It's Tony Delk."

Whether or not my then-roomie called him back, TD was a phenomenal player and a great guy. I'm thrilled to have first-rate basketball alumni like Tony and Scott Padgett joining the coaching staff.  What a great way to honor the great tradition of Kentucky basketball!  Good job, Coach Cal!
