Friday Night Ramblings

  • So, I could not be more excited about Anthony Davis.  It seems the adjectives "dominant" and "amazing" are already part of his name.  Basketball season is almost here, y'all.
  • As the rumors and reorganizations get more and more ridiculous, there's one constant: Rick Pitino is crazier than a shithouse rat.  I'm not gonna lie, his increasingly paranoid rants about the Big East almost make up for the insane addition of A&M to the SEC.  Almost.
  • I'm no economist, but I tend to agree with the general consensus  of late; the business of college sports is just that, and its present structure is wildly unfair to the athletes comprising its ranks.  Taylor Branch's amazing article in this month's Atlantic says it better than I ever could: The system is broken. Not to go all Bilas on you (although he is pretty smart for a Dukie...), but  Mark Emmert's argument that the NCAA is not a business rings as hollow as Stern's argument that the Nets are a poor man's team.
  •  I'm just going to keep watching this video.  Because, you know, we could all use a little inspiration.
