It's been a crazy, crazy day, even by March standards. I'm sure y'all are looking at the world through blue-tinted glasses; Jenksie and I sure are. Just for fun, I thought I'd present tonight's Madness report as seen by a Kentucky fan and through the eyes of a non-believer.
The WKU Game
{Everywhere Else}: President Barack Obama and his special guest British Prime Minister David Cameron attended a first-round NCAA tournament game in Dayton, Ohio tonight. President Obama spoke with Clark Kellogg at halftime, providing some light analysis of the game and revealing his Final Four Bracket picks. PM Cameron joked with Clark about his first exposure to the "fast-paced" game.
{Kentucky}: The "First Four" games commenced tonight. The Sean Woods-coached Mississippi Valley State Delta Devils took on the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers. WKU's late run turned around a sixteen-point deficit, and the 'Toppers won by a point. They'll have the honor of taking on UK at the Yum Center on Thursday. Some politicians were there, too.
Fab Melo
{Everywhere Else}: Syracuse Forward Fab Melo has been declared ineligible for the NCAA Tournament. Basketball fans across the country are scrambling to edit their brackets.
{Kentucky}: We filled out our brackets in February.
Darrin Horn
{Everywhere Else}: After three lackluster seasons at South Carolina, Head Coach Darrin Horn has been fired.
{Kentucky}: Thank goodness we no longer have to play the "Drink everytime the announcer says Darrin Horn is from Lexington" game. Those made for some rough nights. Rick Stansbury is, as far as we know still from Western Kentucky, so that game remains.
Anthony Davis
{Everywhere Else}: Kentucky's Anthony Davis continues to rack up awards. Today, he was honored with the U.S. Basketball Writers Association's Wayman Tinsdale Award for Top Freshman.
{Kentucky}: Has Spiderman been named National Player of the Year yet?
GO CATS!!!!
