Welcome, Gentle Readers,
If you are reading this, it is likely that you are loyal, precious friends, and we thank you for following us on our journeys through the interwebs. If you have found us through as search, Wow! We didn’t think that would happen so fast. Tell all your friends!
We are two Kentucky girls who, among other things, love Kentucky sports. We actually love most things Kentucky: bourbon, horseracing, the colors of fall, a straw hat covered in flowers and ribbons, the list goes on and on. (We could do without the meth labs.) Jenks learned to love UK basketball, as the story goes, in the infant seat. Her first memory of the game is doing cheers in front of the television while Kyle Macy shot free throws during the 1978 Championship game. Her father and uncles did not appreciate this. H is genetically hard-wired to love hoops, since her daddy and granddaddy were both basketball coaches. Her very first “Favorite UK player” was Mel Turpin, and she can trace an Eastern KY acquaintance to most Wildcats – from her grandparents’ dear friend who played for Coach Rupp to the 2008 Freshman guard whose aunt was her high school English teacher.
This blog probably will not inform you of breaking news. First of all, the market is fairly saturated in that area. We can refer you to kentuckysportsradio.com, kentuckyink.com, aseaofblue.com, or always the Catspause. That’s where we’ll learn everything. Also, we just don’t have the time to keep up with all those developments. It’s hard work being a girl!
We will try to give you a different spin on the world that is UK. From tailgating parties to the tacky outfit of a Georgia fan, from what to wear on those magical football/Keeneland double-header Saturdays to why Jenks thinks Deandre Liggins is having so much trouble getting along with Billy, we will set out to discuss the wonderful and often wacky world of Kentucky sports with you. (Yes, discuss. We want your comments!) We just can’t wait to begin.
Finally! Being a Kentucky Girl living in New Jersey I find it hard to explain Kentucky moments. Like you said - Football & Keeneland on the same day outfit when only allowed to pack in one suitcase not knowing what the weather will be. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
