In some good news for the holiday season, former UK guard Dale Brown is not hiding his light under a bushel at while coaching at Dillard University in New Orleans. I'm not going to tell you about it. If you want to know, you can read all about it at blog.kentuckysportsradio.com. You remember Dale. He played for the 1993 team that lost to Michigan in the Final Four. I think that game was the pivotal moment that made my friend Bubby a Louisville fan. Well, either that game or a little incident involving a certain trick-a$$ girlfriend and a basketball player whose initials are JB. (Oops, I probably shouldn't say that, should I?)
Anyway, while I was reading about the goodness of Dale Brown, I came upon the fact that Dillard University has a Male Dance Team. How many ways can I emphasize those words? I have so many questions. What would they wear? Would they dress in the traditional spandex and belly shirts? Would they opt for breakway pants with fringe like they guys at Diamonds are a Girl's Best Friends used to do? And how would they dance? Would they leap? Do the splits? I want to see them shimmy!! I really think I need to make a trip to New Orleans--to see this and for so many other reasons. Do you think writing for this blog would count as an income tax write-off?
At the NCAA tournament a few years ago Cincinnati had one male dance team member. It was funny-looking. I really think his presence contributed to our victory--the Bearcats were so embarrassed by him they were ready to pack up and go home. Well, that and my psychic promise to Randolph Morris. We'll talk about that another day.
Go check out the dance team. You can see them at www.dillard.edu/sport/0/11.php#. (Provided that link works. Otherwise, google it.) You won't be sorry.
